Washburn Day Use Area

I took these at Washburn. It's the day use area of San Simeon State campgrounds.

1. This mouse was weird, he jumped around like a kangaroo. Based on the info at the park, it seems to be a Western Harvest mouse.
2. The deer was hiding in the Brush down in the marsh. He blended in real well.
3. The Berries were interesting. They look like blueberries, but they were growing on a bush about six feet tall. I don't think they're blueberries!

Zebras and a Hawk

Well, I've only had a chance to shoot the Zebras one time, so this is all I have for now. I shot these right off the PCH 1 Hwy in San Simeon.
The red tailed hawk is in by the San Simeon State Campground.

Squirrels, Cat Tails and Sparrows

1. I shot the Ground Squirrel is in San Simeon
2. The Cat Tails are in The washburn Day Use area.
3. The Sparrow is from Washburn as well.

Trees in The San Simeon Cove

Trees sure can be interesting. I shot these off the Bluff trail in the San simeon Cove.

Birds Seals and Bulls

1. I shot this humming bird in Morro Bay.
2. The grey seal was off the San Simeon Pier.
3. This bull was out on Santa Rosa Creek Road. He was right next the fence. I wanted to get real close but at about tweenty feet he started grunting and stamping his hoof. He started getting so upset I decided it wasn't worth getting hurt... I took one pic and I left.

Sea Otter

Here are some pics of a Sea Otter I shot off the San Simeon Pier. He would dive down and get some shellfish. Then smash it open on a rock he had balancing on his belly, Then chow down!

Birds in San Simeon Cove

These birds were all shot in San Simeon Cove. Right across the road from Hearst Castle.
1. These are Cormorants roosting in a tree at sunset along the bluff.
2. This is a Caspian Turn. I shot this off the Pier.
3. This flock of Red Winged Black birds was in the park in front of the Pier.

Sand

Here are some neat shots of the effects of wind on sand.
1. This one is shot with lens right on the sand.
2. This one is of the same sand but from about 20 feet up.
3. This is a different beach on a different day. It's shot about seventy feet up. It almost looks like water from here.

Flora

1. These berries are so small they would all fit on the tip of your finger.
2. This plant reminded me of African trees against the setting sun.
3. This thistle is a really nasty thorny plant, but it sure looks nice in bloom.

Birds of San Simeon

These were all shot in the field just accross from the San Simeon State campgrounds enterance.
1. Egret.
2. Red Tailed Hawk.
3. Marsh Hawk.

PCH 1 HWY

I Shot these at one of the turn outs on PCH 1 Between San Simeon and Hearst Castle.
1. This was a young gull and it let me get real close. I was laying on the ground and it was about three feet from me.
2. This gull was hovering in the wind just overhead just about ten feet away.
3. This little ground squirrel was interesting. He was just a few feet away as well.

White Tailed Kite

Here are a few shots of a White Tailed Kite. This is an interesting Bird of Prey. It has a head like an Owl, and Talons like a Hawk. It hovers over it's prey then swoops down and grabs it. I shot these in the big field just accross from the enterence to the San simeon State campgrounds.
